Halse United First 'v' Cholsey United First I Saturday 8th November 2025 I Kick Off 2pm I Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division

After a good win last week at home against Longford Park with 3 points and a clean sheet the black and white were looking to continue and build on this performance.

At home and the pitch was in great shape thanks to Syresham Sports & Social Club and even the sun was shining in November.

Frankie had a 16 man squad to utilise in this Prem fixture and to take on Cholsey for the first time this season.

A great start from Halse just 20 seconds in centre half Brady slips the ball through to Read who is just beaten to the ball by the onrushing Choley keeper.
Halse are in again on 3 minutes this time when B Purnell splitting the Cholsey defence and releasing Capstick who just drags his shot wide of the far post.
After the Halse fast start Halse break the deadlock! Hornett releases Read down the left, gets his shot in which is saved by the Cholsey keeper and deflected into the path of Capstick and Capstick taps it home from close range.
Halse 1-0 Cholsey
Another chance on 9 minutes, Halse are all over Cholsey in the opening 10 minutes. Read picks up the ball on the half way line and drives into the defence and Read gets 1-1 on the Cholsey keeper but fires his shot straight at him.
Were on 16 minutes now and another chance for the black and white and young Durnin takes a quick throw down the right which releases young Capstick who has a snaphot with the Cholsey keeper who stands tall and saves the shot.
Here Halse come again on 19 minutes when Durnin floats the ball into the middle of the Cholsey box which is met by the head of Brady and powers it in to top left of Cholsey goal to make it two!
Halse 2-0 Cholsey
It's one way traffic this first half. Down the left again with Read who stands it up to the far post and the ball takes an age to drop to Durnin who gets surrounded and sees his shot saved.
Another goal on 29 minutes and it's Halse again with fantastic work again with a high press from Durnin. Durnin wins the ball back, slots Read down the left who unselfishly squares the ball to Capstick to tap home is second.
Halse 3-0 Cholsey
Chance on 31 minutes Halse cutting through once again, this time Capstick in down the left, squares to Durnin. Durnin with a near open goal slices his shot wide.
On 40 minutes Cholsey get their first chance as the ball slips under Paines foot on the counter. Cholsey number Anderson gets in behind but gets too much on it fires over the bar.
Then as the first half comes to a close a scramble in the Cholsey 6 yard box sees the ball pinging around. Halse have three or four attempts blocked and rebounded before Paine has his shot bounce of the post for a goal kick.
Before the half time whistle referee gets his cards out and gives the black and white skipper a yellow for backchat to the referee.

Half Time Halse United 3-0 Cholsey United

Frankie makes his first substitution at half time with Capstick off and De'ath on.
Just 3 minutes in and Halse dont stop. Read picks up the loose ball on the edge of the Cholsey box and curls it into the bottom right of the Cholsey goal.
Halse 4-0 Cholsey
Another booking for Halse on 52 minutes for De'ath for a late tackle on the Cholsey number 9.
Substitution for Cholsey on 53 minutes with their goalkeeper injured and he is replaced by Leach number 17.
on 59 minutes its another for Halse from a corner again, De'ath whips the ball in which is met by the head of Durnin and the ball is helped over the line by Cholsey defender.
Halse 5-0 Cholsey
Then in anger the Cholsey boots the ball at the back of the Halse players and goes into the referees book for a yellow card.
A double substitution for the black and white with Durnin & Hornett making way for Gilsenan and Handley on 62 minutes.
The goals just keep coming then on 63 minutes Brady hits the ball long, Read brings it down and slots it past the keeper from close range.
Halse 6-0 Cholsey
A red card on 65 minutes for the Cholsey keeper when De'ath is in behind the onrushing keeper who is already on a booking stupidly hacks down De'ath. Cholsey Leach goes for an early shower and Cholsey move onto goal keeper number 3.
Next substitution for Halse is Paine off and Salvatore is on.
Another and final substitution for the black and white with Purnell making way for Mortimer.
Then on 78 minutes De'ath is swung to the ground in the Cholsey box and a penalty is given. De'ath steps up and slots it left from the spot.
Halse 7-0 Cholsey
Then on 78 minutes the original Read gets his hatrick. Gilsenan pings a diagonal ball over the top of Read who brings the ball down goes round the keeper and slots it into an empty net for his hatrick.
Halse 8-0 Cholsey
Now into added time and the black and white skipper releasing the ball to Read who hits it at the keeper, but it rebounds back into the path for Mortimer to tap home.
Halse 9-0 Cholsey
A very convincing display and yet another clean sheet for the lads.
