Following on from a great result against Bloxham, Halse were in the right mind set to take on one of the best teams in the League, Deddington.
The game did not start well for Halse and the team found themselves 1-0 down due to some sloppy defending which lead to Deddington’s number 7 slotting away calmly.
Halse finally started to get a foothold in the game and believed to be harshly done by when Dean Ingram brought the ball down in the box and poked home, however the ref decided it was a foul in the build up.
Halse’s continued pressure finally paid dividends when Liam Simpson slotted Ingram through on goal to bury one home at the near post.
Half time score: Halse 1 - 1 Deddington
Halse came out brightly in the second half and continued to keep the ball well in areas. This pressure was wasted when Halse switched off and allowed Deddington’s winger to collect the ball in the box and fire past Howard Holmes.
After this, Halse worked their way back into the game courtesy of a superb brace from Adam Hilton. One was a penalty calmly finished and the other a brilliant header direct from a corner.
Unfortunately Halse could not hold the 3-2 lead and ended up giving away 2 penalties in the final 10 minutes. Deddington’s number 7 converted both.
Full time: Halse 3 - 4 Deddington
Much improvement needed for Halse’s next game at home to local rivals Kings Sutton.
