Halse run riot in 5-0 romp

Halse returned to league action with an away game against local rivals Charlton & District Firsts.

The game started off slow with Halse having the majority of the ball but struggled to break down a tough Charlton back-line, an indication of what was to come for Halse. The first half was rather uneventful with Sam Childerley coming close to netting his first goal of the season, however he was denied by the Charlton 'keeper.
A couple wasted free kicks rounded the first half off with Halse going into the half-time break feeling frustrated, but knew they could find chances if they were patient.

Half-time score Halse 0 - 0 Charlton

Halse came out the break knowing that they needed to get a result from the game if they were to continue their strong start to the season. After some excellent footwork and a clean through ball from Ollie Read, Dean Ingram found himself one on one with the keeper of his old team. Dean kept his nerve and calmly slotted the ball past him.

After this the floodgates opened and Halse were able to get on the front foot after being largely frustrated by Charlton's play style. Read again found himself in space and lofted a superb through ball over the Charlton back line onto the head of striker George Kingham, just like RVP did in the World Cup against Spain, Kingham outrageously lobbed the onrushing Charlton keeper from the top of the box with what will be a strong contender for goal of the season.

Soon after this, Mr Consistent (Ben Lloyd) decided he wanted a piece of the action and found himself one on one with the keeper, he waited for the right opportunity and placed the ball in the opposite corner so the keeper had no chance. Ingram had done well to find him with a smart 25 yard through ball.

Kingham wasn't done with his first header and found himself unmarked in the box in the 79th minute. Ingram had drifted out wide and delivered an excellent cross so Kingham could again head past the Charlton keeper.

Charlton had largely given up at this point - evident from the 4 bookings they picked up in the space of 12 minutes - but Halse wanted more so kept pushing on for the 5th. There were rumours of a reward courtesy of the skipper if the boys managed a 5-0 win which clearly gave them an added boost. Winger Neil Fotheringham whipped a brilliant ball round the Charlton defence for Kingham who slotted away once more to complete his truck.
Full-time Halse 5 - 0 Charlton

Excellent result for the lads and all round excellent performances. Next up, an away game against Bodicote Sports.
