Halse United First 'v' Corby Pegasus First Saturday 30th November 2024

The black and white were at home again in round 3 of the Les Underwood Junior County Cup after a postponement previous Saturday game was on all be it on a very wet pitch.
Corby Pegasus compete in the Premier Division in the Northants Combination League.
Sean and Frankie had some difficult decisions due to all 3 centre backs not available for this fixture.

Kick Off 13.59

Halse in first 10 minutes seem to struggle to keep the ball with some sloppy passing but the black and white soon shake this off. Once Halse do start seeing more of the ball Summers getting the best of his man down the right. Summers then whips the ball into the back stick which bounces awkwardly in front of vice captain Read and falls into the keeper possession.
A early booking from the referee for Corby Pegasus number 7 on 18 minutes for a late tackle on Salvatore.
Another chance for Halse on 20 minutes when centre back Salvatore nips in and wins the ball in his own half. Salvatore then slots the ball through to Summers who's one on one with the Corby keeper and lofts the ball over him but the ball just skids past the post.
Then on 31 minutes with Halse really getting their rhythm and starting right from the back for Halse, a few 1-2's throughout the field and Halse get through on goal. The final ball played into Read, who pokes it past the keeper and slotted in from full back Ralph into an empty net.

Just 7 minutes later its than man again! A Halse corner from the left causes a goal mouth scramble. Summers is first on the scene to touch the ball into Salvatore path who shoots first time. The ball defects and lifts over the Corby keeper and nestles into the net.

Half time arrives and the black and white are really getting into this game now.

We get back underway at 14.53 and Corby make a double substitution with number 5 and 7 making way for number 11 and 17.
A chance come on 56 minutes for Halse direct from a throw, the ball goes underneath the Corby defenders foot and leaves Read with all the time in the world. Read has his shot at the near post saved and tipped round the Corby post.
Next booking on 58 minutes goes Corby way again for number 16 for a late tackle.
Halse make it 3 on 59 minutes when Ralph back heels a ball through into the path of young striker Williams which is intercepted by the Corby number 16 and attempts a back pass and doesnt get enough on the ball and Williams is on hard to slot it away.
Halse 3-0 Pegasus
Halse make their first substitution on 70 minutes and Sakouhi makes his debut after recently signing for the black and white from Tunisia.
On 70 minutes Read gets in on the act when the Corby keeper is playing with the ball in the box and is caught in possession by Read and he taps home from close range.
Halse 4-0 Pegasus
On 78 minutes the game takes a ugly turn and Corby Pegasus are down to 9 men with a double red. The Corby captain number 6 headbutts Gilsenan number 7 with the ball out of play. The Corby 17 is also shown red and sent off for his reaction to the tackle and trying to pick a fight.
The game is fairly flat after these events and the Corby Manager walks off.
Final booking is for Halse midfielder Mortimer on 85 minutes.

The lads will now face Daventry Town Reserves in the quarter final on 11th January 2025 at home.
