Blisworth First 'v' Halse United First - Saturday 1st February 2025 - Les Underwood Junior Cup Semi Final - KO 2pm

Again the black and white make the final four in this Les Underwood Junior Cup which is made up of Step 6 and 7 clubs across Northamptonshire and Peterborough.

The lads made the short journey over to Kislingbury as the Blisworth home ground is under construction.

Blisworth are currently third in the Northants Combination Premier Division only losing 1 game in 15 and 5 games in hand on top of division.

Following the poor weather the pitch was in poor condition but playable so game was on.

A strong start for Blisworth when a ball was knocked long which is bought down by the Blisworth number 10 who chips the ball fantastically into the far post of the Halse net on just 4 minutes in.

Halse get their first chance on 12 minutes when Read is put in on goal over the top left wing. Read gets to the edge of the Blisworth box but is quickly closed down from the keeper.
Blisworth are forced to make an early substitution on 27 minutes with number 6 off for number 16.
Next chance on 30 minutes for Blisworth with a flick from the midfielder causes confusion in the Halse defence. The Bliswoth 9 wiggles through to get a shot away which is met by a great save from Matthews.
Just 2 minutes left and its double bookings for Blisworth number 7 for a late tackle and the coach for constant backchat to the referee.
We are into added time now and a ball is lofted over to the Blisworth 11 and the ball is controlled with his hand and rifled top right corner. The referee would not have seen the handball as his vision was blocked but the assistant would have seen the offence and goal should have been cancelled out.

Second half gets underway at 15.02.
Four minutes in and Blisworth get awarded a penalty when the ball is hit at close range and strikes Salvatore arm and even though his arm is by his right side. A Harsh penalty.
Then the resulting penalty is missed by the Blisworth number 7 and strikes the outside of the post.
On 56 minutes and from a long Blisworth throw, the ball finds its way into the middle of the Halse box. The Blisworth 3 gets his body in there to poke home a third.

Just 3 minutes later there is altercation with Halse skipper getting flattened to the floor by the Blisworth keeper gets a straight red along the Blisworth number 3. Both sides are now down to 10 men.
Substitutions then happening for both sides following red cards with Blisworth 11 making way for 15 and for Halse Summers and Handley making way for Murphy and Purnell.
Another booking for Blisworth on 89 minutes for a late tackle by number 12 yellow card.
