Halse United First 'v' Thame United Reserves - Saturday 19th October 2024 - KO 2pm

After a pitch inspection from the referee the pitch was deemed playable.

Last time Halse faced Thame was in pre-season and Halse came home with a win 4-3.

An early chance from kick off for Halse. Summers gets in down the right, lays off Gilsenan who has one touch out of his feet and thumps one towards the top corner which was well met by the Thame keeper.
Two massive chances for Thame on 10 minutes in both times the Thames forwards are one on one with Halse keeper Matthews who both miss their shots.
Another chance 5 minutes later with Thame knocking on the Halse door. A gift from Hamblin to the Thame forward, as a loose back pass to Matthews in intercepted. The Thame forward rounds Matthews and hits the post.
Halse hit back on 19 minutes and come close to opening the scoring. Read gets in behind Thame and strikes the left hand post.
Halse break the deadlock on 22 minutes with a corner from Gilsenan on the right is whipped in. Centre half Brady comes flying in at the back post and volleys it beautifully into the bottom right.

Halse 1-0 Thame

On 36 minutes Thame make it level with an attack out of nowhere. Thame whip the ball in from the right which is met by Thame number 9 and he crests the ball into the bottom right to equalise.
First booking come Halse way on 43 minutes when B Purnell picks up a booking for making tactical foul. Matthews out of his box clears the ball which is picked up by Thame and attempt to shoot which B Purnell takes the foul to stop the shot.
Next caution comes Thame way after a disgusting tackle from Rodwick who flies in late and leaves Halse full back down requiring treatment. Lucky to stay on pitch for Rodwick.

Chance on 52 minutes after a scramble in the Thame box, the ball falls to Kinner who gets his shot away which rolls narrowly wide of the far post.
Goal 3 minutes later for Thame when they have a corner from the left and Thame number 6 is left a free header in the box. The first header is onto the bar, the rebound is back into the box and the Thame number 6 is there to volley in the second attempt.

Substitution for Thame Stow off and Oke on.
First substitution for Halse with B Purnell making way for forward Williams on 64 minutes.
After just 6 minutes on the pitch and with some build up play on the edge of the Thame box and the ball is dunked through to Williams and with a beautiful curling shot into the far post to level the game.
