The black and white firsts on the road defeat for game week 2.

Abingdon Town 'v' Halse United First - Saturday 6th September 2025 - KO 2pm - OSL Premier Division

Halse made the journey over to Abingdon Town on Saturday which the game was played at original ground rather than Wootton.

Both teams named a 16 man squad for this fixture.

Halse seemed to start brightly and 10 minutes in the Halse GK Mickley kicks the ball long to find Durnin who gets in behind the Abingdon Town defence and with time of his effort, Matthews Abingdon Town GK is out to push Durnin wide.
Then against the run of play Halse concede on just 14 minutes in to first half when Abingdon have first corner of the game which results in a goal for Abingdon. The ball floats into the Halse box which causes a scramble, before being smashed into the Halse net at close range.

Just 3 minutes later Abingdon increase their lead when Abingdon get in down left hand side, they drive the ball across the box and the ball is tapped in at the back post by Billy Jones Abingdon number 10.

On 27 minutes Halse close the gap when they get a free kick is floated into the Abingdon box which is caught by Matthews however Matthews drops the ball and centre half Brady taps home from close range.

On 34 minutes Abingdon return their 2 goal advantage with a long ball forward by Abingdon which is picked up by Jayden Howard who drives towards the Halse defence and fires the ball in to bottom left of the Halse goal.

A sin bin is then issued with just 4 minutes left to play of first half for Abingdon skipper Zac Daniel for constant back chat to the referee.

Second half finally gets underway at 3.01pm.

A fast start from Halse in the second half when Durnin cuts in down the right hand side, slots in Kinner, who just drills the shot past the far post.
On 53 minutes referee has his cards out again this time for Abingdon Jake Carter for a few late nibbles on the Halse players at the start of the half.
Abingdon then increase the lead further with another goal on 55 minutes when Abingdon get in down the left and whips in a dangerous ball into the box which is unfortunately turned into the Halse goal by centre half Brady.

Double substitution for Halse with Purnell and J Williams making way for Capstick and Summers.
Another substitution on 60 minutes for Halse with VC Read off and Mortimer on.
Abingdon get a chance on 64 minutes when Kieran Waters makes some space in the Halse box which is well saved by Halse GK Mickley.
Substitution for Halse on 66 minutes with Williams off and Handley on.
As soon as the substitution is made Halse concede another when Abingdon get in down the right again and slot the ball under Mickley.

With Capstick now in the front line he is causing issues for Abingdon and on 72 minutes Capstick reduces the deficit with a mistake by Abingdon keeper Matthews when the ball is sliced to Capstick from a goal kick, Capstick slots the ball into the bottom right of the Abingdon net.

Another booking on 77 minutes for Abingdon number 6 Henry Bone for a lst man tackle on Capstick right on the edge of the Abingdon box.
Less than 20 seconds later Henry Bone is sent off for a second yellow , Abingdon now down to 10 men with 13 minutes to play.
Substitution for Halse on 79 minutes with Durnin off and Jules on.
On 83 minutes Halse are also reduced to 10 men when Kinner ends up in the sin bin for backchat to the referee.
Were into the final minute of normal time and Jules breaks free of the Abingdon back line and hits his shot which is well saved by Matthews.
Then on 90 minutes its the young 16 Capstick again when he is set through and again toe pokes the ball under Matthews.
