# MATCH REPORT: HALSE UNITED 1–0 ABINGDON TOWN
### Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division – 18 October 2026
### A huge response. A huge performance. A huge win.

This was always going to be a serious test. Abingdon arrived sitting top of the table, flying, confident, and ruthless — exactly the kind of fixture you circle when you want to prove you belong at the very top of Step 7.

And after last week’s disappointment away at Chalgrove, Halse were desperate to bounce back. They did far more than that. They delivered a statement win.

## FIRST HALF — A battle, a grind, and big chances

Kick-off came at 14:03 and Halse settled quickly, matching Abingdon stride for stride in a tight, physical opening.

The first major moment arrived on 35 minutes:
Read pounced on a loose ball, fed De’ath, who flicked it beautifully into Summers. Summers burst through and toe‑poked past the keeper — only for an Abingdon defender to clear off the line at the last second.

A huge chance. A huge warning sign for the league leaders.

Halse kept pushing, stayed organised, and refused to give Abingdon any rhythm.

Half Time: 0–0
A proper top‑of‑the‑table battle.

## SECOND HALF — Halse take control

The second half kicked off at 15:01 and Halse came out firing.

On 52 minutes, Simpson slipped De’ath through on goal. De’ath tried the delicate chip, but the angle just wasn’t there — the ball kissed the outside of the post and went wide.

Abingdon made changes at 50’ and 58’, trying to wrestle back momentum, but Halse were growing stronger and stronger.

Then came the breakthrough.

## 68’ — GOOOOOALLLLL! WARREN FROM DISTANCE!

Instant impact from Kinner.
Moments after coming on, he drove forward and laid the ball inside to Warren.

Warren — standing just outside the centre circle — turned, saw the keeper stranded, and absolutely leathered it.

The ball flew, dipped, and smashed past the helpless keeper.
A thunderbolt. A moment of magic. A goal worthy of winning any game.

Halse 1–0 Abingdon.

The place erupted.

## Managing the game, fighting for every ball

Halse rotated smartly — Summers, Golder, Brady, Warren all leaving the pitch to keep the intensity sky‑high.

Abingdon threw everything at it.
Halse stood tall.

## Late Drama — Two Red Cards

The game boiled over in stoppage time.

First, Simpson was sent off for his reaction in a heated moment.
Then Abingdon’s No.9 saw red for fighting.

After the whistle, Abingdon’s players shamefully ran onto the pitch trying to throw punches — pathetic scenes that overshadowed their performance.

But none of it took away from Halse’s display.

## FULL TIME: HALSE UNITED 1–0 ABINGDON TOWN

A massive win.
A bounce‑back performance full of grit, quality, and belief.
A victory over the league leaders.
A statement that Halse United are **absolutely in this title race**.

POTM goes to our experienced centre back Hamblin always consistent every week. The whole back 4 kept Abingdon quiet for the full 90 with our GK not having to make a single save

Up the Halse. ⚫⚪
